Verse 1
Here I am
And within the reach of my hands
She's sound asleep and she's sweeter now
Than the wildest dream could have seen her
And I watch her slipping away
But I know I'll be hunting
Chorus 1
high and low
High
There's no end to the lengths I'll go to
Hunting high and low
High
There's no end to the lengths I'll go
Verse 2
To find her again
Upon this, my dreams are depending
Through the dark
I sense the pounding of her heart
Next to mine
She's the sweetest love I could find
So I guess I'll be hunting
Chorus 2
high and low
High
There's no end to the lengths I'll go to
High and low
High
Do you know what it means to love you?
Interlude 1
Bridge 1
I'm hunting high and low
And now she's telling me
she's got to go away
Interlude 2
I'll always be hunting
Chorus 3
high and low
Hungry for me
Watch me tea ring myself
to pie ces
Hunting high and low
High
There's no end to the lengths I'll
go to
Oh, for you I'll be hunting high and low
a-ha released Hunting High and Low in June 1985, their first album. They recorded it at Eel Pie Studios, in Twickenham, London, with producers such as Tony Mansfield and Alan Tarney. The album was first released in Norway and the United States, and then in the United Kingdom and Europe. It was a success, reaching the top of the charts in many countries. They released five singles from the album, although not all reached all markets. Take On Me was the first. They recorded it earlier, in 1984, and released it with a video. In Norway it reached top 3, but failed to enter the United Kingdom. They re-recorded it for the album, and later tried again in the United Kingdom. Finally, the video, made by Steve Barron, was key. It was a mix of live action and animation, with a rare style. The video was first shown on a local Boston station and then on MTV. Take On Me reached number one in the United States, stayed on the chart for 27 weeks and was the tenth best-selling single of the year. It also reached number two in the United Kingdom and number one in Norway. The second single was The Sun Always Shines on T.V., which improved the success in the United Kingdom, reaching number one and staying for two weeks. In the United States it was number 20, and was the group's last major success there. There was also a dance version that reached top 5 on dance charts.
