Fun facts
George Harrison wrote «Hear Me Lord» in January 1969, while still in The Beatles. The song was recorded for an album that eventually became called All Things Must Pass, and on the original vinyl edition it closed the second side of the record. After that came a third disc of improvisations, Apple Jam, which was released on vinyl as part of the same launch. The song was intended for the last album by The Beatles, Let It Be, but did not end up in that project.
The story behind
George Harrison wrote Hear Me Lord in January 1969, when he was still in The Beatles. The song is part of the album All Things Must Pass, released in November 1970. It has a sound that blends rock and gospel, and the lyrics are a direct prayer to God, asking for forgiveness and help. The recording was co-produced by Phil Spector and featured several musicians, such as Eric Clapton and Billy Preston. The song was performed live at the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, but the recording was never officially released. It is one of the most religious tracks on the album, along with My Sweet Lord.
