The story behind
Getcha Girl Dogg, according to DoReSol
The recording of Getcha Girl Dogg took place at Death Row Records studios in Los Angeles, and part of the process also occurred at Bernie Grundman Mastering, in Hollywood. This track, with a duration of 5:22, is part of The Chronic, the debut solo album by producer and rapper Dr. Dre. The album was released on December 15, 1992, through his label Death Row Records, in collaboration with Interscope Records and distributed by Priority Records.
For Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., known artistically as Snoop Dogg, this album was a fundamental stepping stone. After leaving the group N.W.A and Ruthless Records due to financial disagreements, Dr. Dre included a young Snoop Doggy Dogg on numerous tracks of The Chronic, thus boosting his own career. Snoop Dogg, originally from Long Beach and with a background in the Crips gang, began his musical career in 1992, shortly after being released from Wayside County jail. He was discovered by Dr. Dre, who added him to his debut project and the title track of the soundtrack for the film Deep Cover.
