The story behind

The song Find a Way to My Heart, with its 6:11 duration, is from the album …But Seriously, released in the UK on November 20, 1989. This work came after Phil Collins concluded his touring commitments with the band Genesis in 1987, a period during which the group entered a four-year hiatus. In that time, Collins dedicated himself to acting, participating in the film Buster in 1988. By the spring of 1989, there was already material for a new solo record that explored deeper lyrical themes, addressing socioeconomic and political issues, in contrast to the more danceable approach of his previous album, No Jacket Required (1985).

This album, …But Seriously, proved to be a major commercial success worldwide. It reached number 1 in the UK for 15 non-consecutive weeks and in the United States for four weeks. Philip David Charles Collins, born in Chiswick, England, in 1951, is a prominent figure in rock music, recognized as a singer, songwriter, drummer, and pianist. He topped the US Billboard Top 100 eight times between 1984 and 1989, seven as a solo artist and one with Genesis. His musical career spans from 1970 to 1996 as the lead vocalist for Genesis, with sporadic later collaborations. His compositions often explore heartbreak, personal experiences, and drug use. By 2002, his solo career sales exceeded 150 million records globally. His interest in music began at age five when he received a toy drum kit, which led him to teach himself by listening to the radio and television, developing his own musical notation system. His professional training began at fourteen at the Barbara Speake Stage School, where he also worked as an actor and model, obtaining significant roles in productions such as Oliver!, The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
