The story behind

Estrêlas, according to DoReSol

The song Estrelas is part of the album Clube da Esquina, a project born from the collaboration between Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges. Released in March 1972, this work was conceived during a time of political tension in Brazil, reflecting in its lyrics themes such as friendship, freedom, and youth. Musically, the album is a fusion that traverses MPB, baroque pop, folk, and jazz pop, with touches of rock, psychedelia, and even classical music. The recording took place in November 1971, at Praia de Piratininga in Niterói and at Estúdios Odeon in Rio de Janeiro, featuring musicians from the collective that inspired the album's name.

Milton Nascimento, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1942, is an artist whose influence extends across Brazilian popular music, samba, pop, and rock, as well as fusing musical traditions from around the world. He is known for his distinctive falsetto and wide vocal range. His participation in the album Native Dancer, alongside Wayne Shorter, introduced him to the international jazz and pop scene in the 1970s. Later, in 1992, his album Angelus featured collaborations with figures such as Pat Metheny, Peter Gabriel, James Taylor, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, and Jack DeJohnette. Throughout his career, Nascimento has received numerous accolades, including Grammy nominations for O Planeta Blue Na Estrada Do Sol (1992) and Angelus (1995). He won Down Beat International Critics polls in 1992 and Down Beat Readers polls in 1991. In 2000, he earned a Grammy for Best Contemporary Pop Album for his 1999 release Crooner.
