The story behind
Soda Stereo released El rito in 1986, within their third album, Signos. It is a ballad that starts with a mystical sound, as if there were rituals in the recording. Then comes the classic riff by Gustavo Cerati, which always gives that distinctive touch to their songs. What's interesting is that they used a Hammond organ from the 70s, instead of an 80s synthesizer. It gives a classic feel, as if they were connected to the rock of that era.
Live, Cerati used to start the song with the phrase "bienvenidos al rito". They performed it from the Signos tour until the Gira Animal, although they didn't play it in the first part. They played it again during Soda's farewell tour in 1997, and later Cerati included it in several tours as a solo artist. They also recorded it again in the live concert El último concierto and in the tour Me Verás Volver.
