Lafourcade and Adán Jodorowsky set out to capture the organic sound of a band playing together, without studio tricks or corrections. El palomo y la negra lasts exactly seven minutes and one second, enough time for the song to unfold its atmosphere without haste, as if each note had its own space to exist. The album was released on April 24, 2025, and marks the first public appearance of her alter ego, La Cancionera, a version of herself that moves between the traditional and the contemporary.
