The story behind
E o espetáculo continua, according to DoReSol
The song *E o espetáculo continua* lasts 3 minutes and 21 seconds, a detail that is sometimes forgotten when a musical piece completely captivates you. The group behind this piece, Roupa Nova, is a true phenomenon in Brazilian music, with a career spanning over three decades. They have managed to maintain a constant performance schedule with large audiences throughout Brazil, something notable, especially considering that their original members are still part of the band.
Since their beginnings in the 1980s with songs like *Canção de Verão*, Roupa Nova has known how to place their music on Brazil’s main radio stations and in telenovelas, cultivating a loyal fan base that constantly renews itself. With a production that includes 22 CDs and 5 DVDs, they have sold over five million units, demonstrating the reach of their music. The connection of their songs with telenovela narratives has been key to embedding their music in the Brazilian collective memory. Songs like *Dona* in *Roque Santeiro*, *Coração Pirata* in *Rainha da Sucata*, *Começo, meio e fim* in *Felicidade*, and *Whisky a Go Go* in *Um sonho a mais* became highly sought-after classics in their concerts.
Facing changes in the music industry in the early 2000s, the band took the initiative to found their own label, Roupa Nova Music, to manage and distribute their work. In 2004, they launched the successful project *RoupAcústico* (CD and DVD), which sold 220,000 DVDs and 320,000 CDs, in addition to receiving important industry recognitions at the time. A major milestone in their career came in 2009, when they fulfilled their dream of recording at the iconic Abbey Road studio in London, a project titled *Roupa Nova em Londres* that earned them a Latin Grammy award.
