The story behind
When a song becomes the starting point for a career, it's interesting to see how it came about. That is the case of *¿Dónde Estás Corazón?*. Originally, this musical piece saw the light of day in 1994, as part of a multi-artist compilation album called Nuestro Rock Volumen II, a joint project between a Colombian radio station and a local record label. What's remarkable is that, out of all the songs included, this was the one that truly resonated, becoming a hit on Colombian radio stations and reaching the top spot on a popularity chart. Such was its impact that it was decided to film a video to give it more momentum, thus marking a key moment in the artist's career in her country.
This initial success opened doors for the artist and producer Luis Fernando Ochoa, with whom she had already collaborated, to work together on a more extensive project. This is how *¿Dónde Estás Corazón?* ended up being included in the singer's third studio album, Pies Descalzos, released internationally in 1995. The song was re-released as a single in February 1996 for all of Latin America, and a new music video was recorded. The lyrics of this piece were written by the artist herself, seeking to regain creative control over her music after her early works. In 1997, the composition received an award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers for being a Pop/Contemporary song.
