The story behind

Rosalía chose the title Divinize because the idea of turning the everyday into something sacred resonated with her. In four minutes and three seconds, the song is built around that word: it doesn’t speak of gods or rituals, but of how the creative act — from cooking to composing — can be an almost spiritual gesture. What’s interesting is that this concept didn’t come from a book or a theory, but from something she herself learned while working on the album: a verb that, in its sound and meaning, opened a door for her to think of creation as something accessible, almost domestic. The album LUX, where Divinize appears, was recorded at a time when Rosalía was exploring the connection between the divine and the earthly. The recording credits show a diverse team: arrangements were handled by Elliott Kozel, Angélica Negrón, and Caroline Shaw, while mixing was overseen by Ramiro Fernandez‐Seoane, Francesco di Giovanni, and Manny Marroquin. Among the producers are Noah Goldstein, Jake Miller, and David Rodríguez, alongside Rosalía herself. It’s no coincidence that the process included musicians with classical training and others more tied to urban sounds: the result sounds like a dialogue between the experimental and the intuitive. The song is also part of an album that in 2018 earned Rosalía the title of the Spanish artist with the most awards at the Grammy Latinos, though success wasn’t the initial goal, but rather the search for a sound that didn’t yet exist.
