The story behind
Dangerously Easy, according to DoReSol
When you dive into Dangerously Easy, the first thing that catches your eye is its concise duration, barely 2 minutes and 44 seconds, but every moment is charged with an energy that captivates you. This track, part of Olivia Dean's first studio album, Messy, was conceived with the idea of reflecting that stage of adult life where things are not always perfect, but rather chaotic and honest. The title itself, Messy, emerged during recording to capture that essence, leaving behind an original idea that referenced her heritage, Between Islands.
The recording of Messy, and therefore of Dangerously Easy, involved the participation of several professionals. Aqualung was involved in both production and sound engineering, alongside Daniel Moyler and James Pinfield-Wells. The mixing task fell to Nathan Boddy. This album, released on June 30, 2023, under the EMI Records label, was well-received, reaching fourth place on the UK Albums Chart and obtaining a silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry. Furthermore, in 2023, it was considered for the prestigious Mercury Prize.
