When I met you sounds like that first chord that hooks you without warning. It's not a song that announces itself; instead, it drags you in from the very first measure with a groove that feels handwritten, as if Calamaro had left the door ajar for the listener to step in without asking permission. To understand it, you have to know where that sound comes from. Calamaro arrived in Uruguay during his teenage years, and there, between rehearsals and dive bars, he slipped into Raíces as a keyboardist. Later, alongside Augusto Gringui Herrera, he formed the Chorizo Colorado Blues Band, a fleeting but necessary detour before rock seeped into his skin. Then, in Stress — that incubator where Gustavo Cerati and Héctor Zeta Bosio fine-tuned their ideas — Calamaro found the perfect place to unleash melodies that could no longer be undone. When I met you was born at that crossroads: between the blues that shaped him and the rock that finally molded him.
