The story behind
The song *¡Cruz diablo!* by Patricio Rey has a duration of 4:14 and is part of the album Luzbelito, released in July 1996. This record was conceived as a conceptual work exploring the complexities of human beliefs and behavior through the figure of a supposed son of the devil. The production of Luzbelito demanded more time and the use of several recording studios, including Be Bop in São Paulo, New River in Fort Lauderdale, and El Pie in Buenos Aires.
Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, led by Carlos Alberto Indio Solari and Skay Beilinson, originated in La Plata, Argentina. The band developed its own sonic aesthetic within rock, achieving a massive connection with its audience without relying on traditional cultural or media channels. Their dissemination was mainly based on word-of-mouth, maintaining a strong independence from the music industry. The lyrics of their songs often used metaphors, and their proposal was characterized by avant-gardism in their performances and mysticism in their graphic art, consolidating a countercultural paradigm through their independent production. Musically, they were distinguished by ingenious instrumentals, with a prominent guitar weaving riffs and solos in dialogue with the voice, often enriched with instruments such as the saxophone, violin, or piano.
