The album, released by Dischi Ricordi, did not aim to sound like the rest: it sought to capture the voice of a people who had sailed routes where borders were merely lines on the water. De André, also known as Faber thanks to his friend Paolo Villaggio, always had a soft spot for those living on the margins, but here he took that obsession to a territory where the language itself was a land to be explored.
