The story behind

Cover Me (undercover mix), according to DoReSol

The "undercover mix" version of Cover Me, with its six minutes and five seconds of duration, immerses us in a sound that moves away from the rawness of Bruce Springsteen's previous works. For this Born in the U.S.A., the artist and his team explored a production closer to 1980s rock, with a marked use of synthesizers and drums with a very present snare hit.

These recording sessions, which spanned two years between January 1982 and March 1984 in New York City, were incredibly prolific. It is said that between 70 and 90 songs emerged from them. Some of these pieces found their way as B-sides, others appeared on compilations, and a considerable number remained unreleased. Interestingly, some of the ideas for these songs were born from a demo tape that Springsteen had recorded for his previous album, Nebraska, released in 1982. The production of this album featured the collaboration of Jon Landau, Steven Van Zandt, and Chuck Plotkin, in addition to Bruce Springsteen himself.
