The story behind
Gloria Estefan wrote and sang "Con los años que me quedan" in 1993, as the second single from her album*Mi Tierra*, her first album in Spanish. The song was recorded at Crescent Moon in Miami and was produced by her husband, Emilio Estefan Jr., along with others. The lyrics speak of love and time, and it became her second number-one hit on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart. The song has a gentle melody, typical of a bolero, and is accompanied by an English-language version called "If We Were Lovers," which was released in Europe. Neither song is a translation, but rather two sides of the same sentiment: one more timeless and the other more passionate. The song remains popular, with thousands of plays on Last.fm. ↓ Skip to chordsD Em7 F#m Em A7
