The story behind
Pink Floyd released Coming Back to Life in 1994, within the album The Division Bell. It was written by David Gilmour, and he also sang it. He put it in D major, with a synth buzz at the beginning, followed by a calm guitar solo. The first verse is sung slowly over those chords, and then enters the main rhythm, with the full band. There is another verse, a guitar solo, and then the last lines of the verse again, with another solo until the end.
The live version appeared on Pulse, a 1995 live album. They recorded it at another concert, not the DVD one. It is included as a bonus on the B-side of the single Wish You Were Here (Live). Gilmour's solos are also on his live DVDs, such as David Gilmour in Concert and Remember That Night.
