The story behind

Children of the World, according to DoReSol

When the Bee Gees released Children of the World in 1976, they were already coming off a resounding success with You Should Be Dancing, which had reached number one in the United States and Canada. This new track, which gives the album its title, joined that streak, consolidating their presence in the disco music scene. What's interesting about this phase is that it marks the first time they worked with the production team Gibb-Galuten-Richardson, a collaboration that would bear fruit in many other successful projects. This album is considered, in fact, a prelude to their full immersion into the disco world, which would reach its peak the following year with their prominent participation in the soundtrack of The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack.

The group, formed by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, already had a solid career since its founding in 1958. Born on the Isle of Man and with a childhood shared between Manchester, England, and Redcliffe, Australia, the Gibbs were characterized by their distinctive vocal harmonies. While Robin's vibrato defined their early hits, it was Barry's falsetto register that became their signature sound towards the late seventies and eighties. The brothers not only composed their own hits but also wrote and produced for other artists. After an initial success in Australia with Spicks and Specks, they returned to the United Kingdom in 1967, where their career took off internationally. The production of Children of the World, with a duration of 3:08, was supervised by the Bee Gees themselves along with Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson.
