The story behind

Love So Right, according to DoReSol

When the Gibb brothers set out to record Children of the World, they were looking for a sound that would mark a transition. In Love So Right, that search manifests in an R&B ballad that moves away from the more overtly disco sound of previous singles like You Should Be Dancing. What's interesting is that, while maintaining the essence of the vocal harmonies for which they are known, here for the first time Barry Gibb's lead voice is heard exclusively in his characteristic falsetto, something that did not happen in the two previous singles, Fanny (Be Tender with My Love) and You Should Be Dancing, where vocal registers alternated. The group even mentioned that they were trying to emulate the influence of The Delfonics, seeking that R&B nuance.

The recording of Love So Right spanned several months in 1976, with sessions beginning on January 18 and concluding on May 8. Much of this work was done at Criteria Studios in Miami, but there were also sessions at Le Studio in Quebec, Canada. This studio collaboration involved producers such as Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson, who would form a very successful production team with the Bee Gees in the following years. The single, released in September 1976, performed well on the US charts, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and also appearing on the Billboard Adult Contemporary. It had a minor presence on the Billboard Black Singles, reaching number 37. In Canada, the song had a different fate regarding its promotion as an A-side or B-side, as You Stepped Into My Life was chosen as the main side there.
