The story behind

Can We Find a Reason?, according to DoReSol

The song Can We Find a Reason?, with its duration of 6:27, emerges from the recording sessions of the album 5 by Lenny Kravitz. This album, released in May 1998 by Virgin Records, was the fifth studio work by the American musician. The creation of 5 began in early 1997, and recording started in October of that same year at the studio Kravitz had in his New York home. During this period, the New York studio received visits from personalities such as Madonna, Chris Rock, Bobby Brown, Marilyn Manson, and Gwen Stefani. Later, the sessions continued at Compass Point Studios in The Bahamas, under the supervision of engineer Terry Manning, who also handled the mixing of the material.

The sound of 5 is characterized by a fusion of influences from the 1970s, with touches of funk and soul, integrated into Kravitz’s signature rock style. To achieve this sonority, Kravitz explored the use of digital technology, including synthesizers and tape loops, which gave the album a more modern atmosphere. Lenny Kravitz, born in New York in 1964, is known for his ability to compose, perform, and produce, blending elements of blues, rock, soul, funk, reggae, hard rock, Neo-Psychedelia, folk, and ballads in his music. Often, in his recordings, he himself handles all the instrumental parts, from guitars and bass to drums and keyboards. Throughout his career, Kravitz has amassed hits and recognition, including several Grammy Awards for "Best Male Rock Vocal Performance" between 1999 and 2002.
