The first time you listen to Cae el sol by Airbag, what stands out is the contrast between the weight of the drums and the synthesizers sneaking in like a whisper. It’s not the hard rock the band had been known for, but something more fluid, where guitars blend with electronic textures that give it a modern feel without losing its melodic essence. The song moves with a rhythm that doesn’t stay still: there’s a play between the organic and the synthetic that makes it sound fresh, as if the band had found a balance between what they already knew how to do and what they wanted to explore.

Airbag recorded Cae el sol in the midst of an intense process. Between July and August 2011, in the studio, they worked with over a hundred songs written during a two-year break from live performances. Out of all that material, only twelve ended up on Vorágine, their fourth album, released by Del Ángel Discos and distributed by Sony Music Entertainment. The song itself lasts 4:41, enough time for the structure to unfold without haste, leaving room for each layer—from the pads to the riffs—to have its moment. The tour that followed the release took them across the country between late 2011 and all of 2012, but in the studio that summer, what they were aiming for was to capture something that sounded different from what they’d done before.
