The story behind
por mil noches, according to DoReSol
The song Por mil noches by Airbag doesn’t stay on the surface of just any ballad: its strength lies in how it blends two colliding worlds. On one hand, the lyrics speak of regret and a love that faded away without anyone being able to stop it, with verses that sound like whispered confessions. On the other, the video —directed by Gabriel Grieco and Patricio Sardelli himself— tells a parallel story that isn’t literal but reinforces that sense of loss: a heist that ends in betrayal, a wounded thief trying to understand why he was left behind. The girl behind the wheel of the Jeep, the flying cash, the point-blank shot… all of it feels like it’s ripped from a broken dream, as if the music and the images were two sides of the same coin.
The song was born as the first single from Libertad, Airbag’s fifth album, recorded in 2013. The band’s three members —Patricio Sardelli, Guido, and Gastón— wrote it together, without hierarchy, as if each had contributed a piece of that guilt and nostalgia that now sounds so recognizable. Sardelli summed it up in a talk with Guido Kaczka: it’s not just about missing someone, but admitting that you failed and that time isn’t enough to make amends. The result is a track that, though it never topped the charts, lingered in the memories of those who listen to it for how it manages to feel intimate without losing its power.
