The story behind
This song sounds like a whisper that turns into a shout in a single breath. The bassline traces a line that coils back on itself, almost as if it’s walking in circles before taking off. The drums mark the tempo with a cadence that’s neither straight nor predictable, yet never lost: it’s as if each beat is a question answered on its own. Indio Solari’s voice floats above this web, effortless, as if recounting something the listener already knows without needing explanations. It’s not a song you listen to all at once: you have to let it in, let the seven-time loop (or whatever that shifting meter is that never quite settles) carry you somewhere else without warning.
They recorded it in 2014, at a time when Solari had already spent years exploring sounds that didn’t fit what was expected of him. The album Pajaritos, bravos muchachitos —where this track appears— features three former members of Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota: Semilla Bucciarelli, Sergio Dawi, and Walter Sidotti, musicians who reunited after decades. Solari is credited as «El Fisgón Ciego», a nod that already says much about his approach: no grand titles, just what’s necessary. The song lasts 3:16, just enough time for the groove to take hold and not let go until it ends, as if it knows there’s no rush. It was one of the nominees for Best Rock Artist Album at that year’s Gardel Awards, but the record had already done its work: it wasn’t seeking awards, just a sound that felt true, even if no one could quite define it.
