The story behind
There's something in the air of búscame otra vez that isn't heard in the rest of Kevin Kaarl's catalog. It's not just the lyrics, nor even the weight of the strings as they are plucked, but that blend of urgency and calm that seeps into every measure. The song progresses as if it were searching for something — or someone — in the shadows, and the listener ends up feeling as though they're part of that search. Kaarl's voice doesn't sound like someone singing from certainty, but from the chaos of someone who still hasn't found what they've lost. The most curious thing is that, despite that sense of imbalance, the song never collapses: there's an invisible thread holding it together, as if every note knows exactly where to land to keep the rhythm intact.
The album Ultra Sodade was born in a small space, far from professional studios. Kevin and his brother Bryan put the material together in Chihuahua, using equipment they had on hand and an internet connection that sometimes failed. They weren't aiming to polish every detail, but to capture something that felt real, even if that meant leaving traces of imperfection. Bryan, who until then had collaborated on minor projects, took on the role of producer and mixer for the first time, and the result is noticeable: the sound has that homely warmth that only comes when music is recorded without haste and without filters. The song, with its nearly five-minute duration, flows like a river winding between the intimate and the universal, sweeping the listener along without warning.
