Fun facts

Van Morrison wrote "Brown Eyed Girl" in 1967, and recorded it in March of the same year. He then released it as a single in June, with the label Bang. It rose to number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed on the chart for sixteen weeks. The background vocals were done by the Sweet Inspirations, and the song became one of the most recognizable in his repertoire.

The story behind

Van Morrison recorded Brown Eyed Girl in March 1967, in a New York studio. It was a track from his first single, released in June of the same year. The song was released on the Bang label in the United States and on London in the United Kingdom. The voice of Sweet Inspirations accompanies the chorus. The lyrics speak of an old relationship, with a nostalgia that is evident in every word. Some lines were considered too suggestive, so an edited version without those phrases was released. The song was included in the album Blowin' Your Mind!, which was released in September 1967. Morrison did not receive royalties for the track, because he signed a contract without legal advice. Although it is well-known, it is not one of his favorites.
