At War With the World

When Mick Jones and Lou Gramm began to shape what would be Foreigner's first album, musical ideas already existed. In fact, Jones had composed several songs before the band was officially formed. For his audition, Gramm performed three of them, including *At War With the World*, in addition to *Feels Like the First Time* and *Woman, Oh Woman*. Once the band was formed, Gramm and Jones continued to work together on other tracks. The recording of this debut album, which was released on March 8, 1977, under the Atlantic label, involved several engineers such as Jimmy Douglass, Michael Getlin, Kevin Herron, Gary Lyons, and Randy Mason.

The mixing was handled by Jimmy Douglass, Mick Jones, and Ian McDonald, who also participated as producers along with Mick Jones, Gary Lyons, and John Sinclair. This work produced well-known singles such as *Feels Like the First Time*, *Cold as Ice*, and *Long, Long Way from Home*. It also included tracks like *Headknocker* and *Starrider*, the latter featuring an unusual vocal performance by Mick Jones on lead guitar. The duration of *At War With the World* is 4:26.
