The story behind
When you dive into Along Comes a Woman, you encounter a sound that the magazines of the time described as a "hard rocker" with the potential to climb the charts. A different energy was noticeable, a sharper edge compared to what Chicago had been presenting. The magazine Cashbox defined it as a "dynamic and melodic" track, and Billboard, at the end of 1985, pointed it out as an excellent example of the "funk-pop" sound that defined the year.
This track, released on February 11, 1985, marked a particular milestone. It was the last time we heard Peter Cetera's lead vocals on a Chicago single, as he left the band in the summer of 1985. The song was recorded for the album Chicago 17, which came out in 1984. The original album version lasts 4:14, but for the single it was edited to 3:47. The music video, filmed in black and white, played with references to films like *Raiders of the Lost Ark* and *Casablanca*, with Peter Cetera taking on a role inspired by Indiana Jones and Rick Blaine. The production of this video was handled by Jon Small of Picture Vision, Inc., and the direction was by Jay Dubin.
