The story behind
In *Tango 4*, that collaboration between Charly García and Pedro Aznar, we find a particular piece called *Treinta denarios*. What's interesting about this recording is the atmosphere that is created, partly thanks to the participation of Alfredo Alcón, who recites biblical fragments. The song's duration, which extends for just over five minutes, allows this atmosphere to develop and envelop the listener, creating a distinctive sonic space within the album.
The recording of *Tango 4* spanned between January and September 1991, and it was Pedro Aznar who handled much of the process at his Overtone Studios. For *Treinta denarios*, as for other tracks like *Vampiro* and *Sólo Dios sabe*, he had the assistance of Peter Baleani. This album, released in 1991, also included notable collaborations such as Gustavo Cerati on guitars for *Vampiro*, and covers of classics like *Break It All* by Los Shakers, with the participation of Sandro, and *God Only Knows* by the Beach Boys. In that same year, García, who was 39 years old, was going through a complex personal moment, having been hospitalized for the first time due to his addictions, although his commitment to music continued.
