The story behind

When approaching the composition *Circles*, it is interesting to note how Incubus, after exploring sounds closer to nu metal, began to expand their sonic palette. The album to which it belongs, Morning View, released in October 2001, marks an evolution towards alternative rock with influences ranging from the softer to the more powerful. This work was the last to feature bassist Alex Katunich, who left the band in 2003. The album not only produced widely heard singles like Wish You Were Here and Nice to Know You, but also achieved great commercial success, reaching double platinum status and becoming the band's best-selling album. A new version of the album, titled Morning View XXIII, was released in May 2024, featuring bassist Nicole Row.

The history of Incubus dates back to 1991 in Calabasas, California, where they formed as a band that fused Californian spirituality with funk and the energy of nineties alternative rock. Founding members included Brandon Boyd on vocals, Mike Einziger on guitar, Alex Katunich on bass, and José Pasillas on drums. In 1998, Chris Kilmore joined as DJ, adding electronic layers that became distinctive of the group's sound. Einziger, in particular, stood out for his innovative approach to guitar, experimenting with complex harmonies. Their first independent album, Fungus Amongus (1995), already showed a mix of funk and raw energy, but it was with S.C.I.E.N.C.E. (1997) that they consolidated a reputation for their experimental approach, combining metal, jazz, and electronics.
