María Becerra

The sound of María Becerra blends urban pop and reggaeton with a touch of electronic music, where catchy melodies merge with lyrics ranging from intimate to carefree. Her songs often play with simple yet effective structures, where rhythm sets the pace and the vocals —sometimes whispered, other times explosive— guide the listening experience. There’s something in her way of singing that recalls the energy of the covers that first made her known online: that mix of freshness and technique that doesn’t sound forced, but natural, as if each note were crafted to sound through a neighborhood speaker or in a global playlist.

María Becerra’s leap from content creator to musical artist wasn’t gradual—it came with a bang. In 2019, her EP 222 put her on the map with «Dime cómo hago», a track that entered Billboard’s Argentina Hot 100 without warning. But it was in 2021 when the shift became undeniable: first with the EP Animal, parte 1, then with the album Animal —released six months later— and finally with the Animal Tour. That same year marked her arrival in larger markets: collaborations like «Además de mí (remix)», «¿Qué más pues?» with J Balvin, and «Miénteme» with Tini climbed into Billboard’s Global 200, a feat few Argentine artists had achieved at the time.

More about María Becerra

Biography

Before becoming a singer, María Becerra had already built an identity online. At twelve, her Facebook videos —where she posted covers and auditions— earned her her first followers. At thirteen, she began writing poetry and short stories shared on the web, and at fifteen, a parody monologue went viral in less than a day. But it was on YouTube where she found her place: there, she blended singing, dancing, and vlogs until amassing over three million subscribers. That channel not only led her to win awards and star in a play but also positioned her as one of Argentina’s most influential YouTubers, according to Hill & Knowlton in 2018. Her time on the platform gave her tools she later applied to music: direct audience connection, the ability to reinvent herself quickly, and that mix of authenticity and spectacle that now defines her style.
