Manuel Turizo

The sound of Manuel Turizo is built on a blend of rhythms that don’t feel accidental: pop with trap influences and Colombian vallenato chords intertwine into a style that, though young, already has its own identity. His voice, classified as a baritone, gives a particular weight to the melodies, especially when the theme leans toward romance or danceable beats. That said, it’s not a sound that stays still: it evolves with each single, but always making it clear that behind the beats there’s a well-defined vocal structure. What defines his music is that ability to sound fresh without losing the essence of what already works in the Latin scene.

The moment everything changed was with Una Lady como tú, a track that not only took him to the top of the charts across Latin America, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, but also proved how a song can break barriers without needing to fit into a single genre. The video surpassed one billion views on YouTube in 2018, and by 2026 it had already doubled that figure. But what’s interesting isn’t just the success—it’s how that song became a bridge: first with collaborations like the remix alongside Nicky Jam—which further expanded his reach—and later with Bésame, where he added the strength of Puerto Rican reggaeton alongside Valentino. Both singles not only solidified his name in the market but also gave Billboard reasons to include him in its list of Latin artists to watch in 2018.

More about Manuel Turizo

Biography

Before all that, Turizo was already making moves from Medellín, where his brother Julián—who ended up becoming his producer—supported him from the start. As a child, Manuel dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but singing eventually captivated him after taking classes with a Cuban teacher. What’s curious is that his first contact with music wasn’t with the guitar, but with his voice: he sang covers while his brother accompanied him with harmonies and ukulele. His first professional steps came in 2016 with Baila Conmigo and Vámonos, two self-released tracks that, while not as impactful, served as a foundation. But it was in March 2017 when Una Lady como tú changed everything: released without great expectations, it ended up being the song that made him known beyond Colombia’s borders. And though success caught him by surprise, he’s said himself that the key was never letting go of what already sounded good in his head.
