More about Bruce Hornsby & the Range
Biography
The band released an album in 1985, and the song "The Way It Is" became a hit. The album sold a lot, and it released other songs that also worked well, like "Mandolin Rain". All of that put him in the world of rock and bluegrass mixed together, something that came to be known as "Virginia sound". In 1987, he won a Grammy as Best New Artist.
Later, they released another album called *Scenes From The Southside* in 1988, with a song called "The Valley Road". They also did a collaboration with the Grateful Dead, something that continued until the group disbanded in 1995. In 1989, he wrote a song for Don Henley, which became a hit.
In 1990, they released *A Night On The Town*, where the piano stopped being the main focus and the guitar took more prominence. In the end, the band broke up, and each member went their own way. Bruce, however, started doing things on his own, and in 1993 he released *Harbor Lights*, an album that had more jazz and collaborations with important musicians. The song "Fields of Gray" was written for his children, and it had some exposure.
