Astor Piazzolla

Astor Piazzolla is a name that resonates strongly in the world of tango, not only for his mastery of the bandoneon, but also for his ability to transform this genre into something completely new. His sound is a bold blend of traditional rhythms and contemporary elements, incorporating influences from jazz and classical music. This fusion led him to create his own style known as nuevo tango, where the bandoneon becomes the protagonist of compositions that invite attentive listening, moving away from the dance-focused approach of traditional tango.

A key moment in his career was his trip to Paris in 1954, where he studied with Nadia Boulanger. This encounter was decisive, as the teacher urged him to explore his musical identity beyond the conventions of tango. During his stay, Piazzolla recorded his first album, Sinfonía de tango, which marked the beginning of a prolific recording career that would lead him to release around forty albums. Despite the resistance he faced in his home country, where some considered him "the killer of tango," his music found a place in Europe and North America, where it was appreciated for its innovation and depth.
