The story behind

Buenos Aires hora cero, according to DoReSol

When you immerse yourself in Buenos Aires hora cero, you encounter a piece that invites you to feel the pulse of the city at a particular moment. The music, with its duration of 2:55, transports you to an atmosphere that evokes the porteño night, that instant when routine comes to a halt and the city has its own language. It is a composition that was born from the mind of Astor Pantaleón Piazzolla, an artist whose mark on music is undeniable.

Piazzolla, born in Mar del Plata in 1921 and deceased in Buenos Aires in 1992, was an accordionist and composer who explored the limits of tango. In his training, he received teachings from the renowned French composer Nadia Boulanger, studying harmony and classical music. His early years saw him collaborate with tango figures such as Aníbal Troilo, arranging and performing. However, when Piazzolla began experimenting with tango, introducing new rhythmic, timbral, and harmonic ideas, he faced resistance from the most traditional sectors, the so-called «Guardia Vieja», who defended a more orthodox approach. Despite initial criticism, his music was later reappraised by a broader audience and musicians from other genres.
