The story behind
Fuga y misterio, according to DoReSol
The piece Fuga y misterio, originally titled María de Buenos Aires: Fuga y misterio (instrumental), immerses us in a sonic framework that invites exploration. Its duration of 3 minutes and 17 seconds is enough to unfold an atmosphere charged with intrigue and movement, characteristics that make it a fascinating starting point for understanding the proposal of its creator.
Astor Pantaleón Piazzolla, born in Mar del Plata in 1921 and deceased in Buenos Aires in 1992, was an accordionist and composer whose work transcended borders. His training included studies in harmony and classical music with the renowned Nadia Boulanger, an influence that is evident in the depth of his compositions. In his early years, he collaborated with tango figures such as Aníbal Troilo, creating orchestral arrangements. However, when Piazzolla began experimenting with tango, introducing rhythmic, timbral, and harmonic innovations, he faced resistance from the most traditional sectors, the so-called «Guardia Vieja». Despite criticism and being labeled the «tango killer», he defined his music as «contemporary music of Buenos Aires», a sound that sought its own path, sometimes misunderstood by radio stations and record labels of the time. He deeply admired musicians like Alfredo Gobbi and Osvaldo Pugliese, whose works such as Negracha, Malandraca, and La yumba resonated in his musical universe.
