Area

Area is an Italian rock band that started in Milan in 1972. Their leader was Demetrio Stratos, a musician born in Egypt but with Greek roots. From the beginning, the group moved between different styles: progressive rock, jazz fusion, up to experimental. They were always on the edge, as if one genre wasn't enough for them.

In 1979, Stratos died of a heart attack. It was a hard blow. The band took a break for a while, but reunited in the 90s. From 1993 to 1999, they kept playing, although with less intensity. They took a break afterwards, but in 2009 they reunited again, with some members who had already been there before Stratos died.

Biography

Although they change forms, the group always kept their essence. They didn't get stuck. They move, reinvent themselves, but never lose their touch. It's as if the sound accompanied them even when they weren't there.
