La Biblia

Vox Dei released La Biblia in March 1971, an album that came from a very particular place. It was recorded in the TNT Studios, in the city of Buenos Aires, and ended up in the hands of Disc Jockey, a label that took care of bringing the album to the listeners. The work was done at a time when Argentine rock was just beginning to take shape, and when music was something new and still uncertain.

About the album

La Biblia, according to DoReSol

The project started in 1970, in a creative atmosphere that was lived in Jorge Álvarez's bookstore and in the Mandioca label. It was there that the idea was formed, and then it developed with contributions from Juan Carlos Godoy and orchestras from Roberto Lar. The music was built during the recording, as if it were a process of discovery. The first completed song was Génesis, which was played live before being fully recorded. Then came Moisés and Las guerras, songs that became hits for the group.

The band was young, from Quilmes, and had little connection with the rock scene that was forming in the Capital. What they did with La Biblia was something special, but it was also complicated. There were tensions among the musicians, especially between Soulé and Godoy, and in the end Godoy left the group. The album also had to face pressures from censorship and the Church, which tried to control the lyrics of some songs. Despite everything, the album came out, and became part of the history of Argentine rock.
