Come è profondo il mare

When Lucio Dalla released Come è profondo il mare in 1977, it marked a turning point in his career. This was the first work where he himself was responsible for composing both the melodies and the lyrics, inaugurating a more personal and authorial phase. The recording took place in two locations: the RCA studios in Rome, with Maurizio Montanesi as engineer, and the Stone Castle Studios in Carimate, where Ezio De Rosa was in charge of the sound. The production of this album was handled by Alessandro Colombini and Renzo Cremonini.

About the album

Come è profondo il mare, according to DoReSol

One of the key pieces on the album is Quale allegria. It is said that Michele Mondella, who was Dalla's press chief, revealed that the singer-songwriter confessed to him, shortly before his death, that he had written this song just a week after losing his mother. Another notable track, Treno a vela, makes a veiled reference to Krisma (then known as Chrisma) and their foray into the disco genre, through a verse that mentions people arriving from the Veneto to see the singer Patrizio and his "porno comizio".

The album, which includes 8 songs, presents a work where Lucio Dalla is the sole author of the texts and music. Among the tracks that make up the tracklist are Come è profondo il mare, Treno a vela, Il cucciolo Alfredo, Corso Buenos Aires, Disperato erotico stomp, Quale allegria, …e non andar più via, and Barcarola.
