La historia detrás
a-ha sacó la canción I Dream Myself Alive en 1985, como parte de su primer álbum Hunting High and Low. La grabaron en un estudio de Twickenham, Londres, con productores que se llamaban Tony Mansfield, John Ratcliff y Alan Tarney. Fue un disco que se vendió mucho, especialmente en Europa y Estados Unidos. La canción salió como parte de varios sencillos que sacaron del álbum. Uno de ellos fue Take On Me, que tuvo un video muy especial. Lo hicieron con un director que antes había hecho videos para otros artistas famosos, pero este fue distinto: mezclaba imágenes reales con animación. El video se vio en una emisora local y luego en MTV. La canción llegó a ser número uno en Estados Unidos y número dos en el Reino Unido. I Dream Myself Alive también fue parte de la campaña de promoción del álbum, pero no tuvo la misma atención que otros sencillos. Aunque no fue tan exitosa como Take On Me, sigue siendo parte de la historia de a-ha y de ese primer álbum que los lanzó al mundo.
