Obviously, after listening to the "COHEN LIVE!" performance, the capo
should be on the 9th fret and the song starts in G, instead of C capo 4,
or even E ( no capo ) as I've often seen.
Basically, the notes are exactly the same as in the previous version,
but it's much EASIER to play it that way ( that's what L. Cohen does
anyway ), and it sounds just beautiful.
( in the "COHEN LIVE!" performance, the capo is on the the 3rd fret,
i.e. 3 tones lower than the studio version )

A história por trás
"Suzanne" é uma composição musical criada pelo poeta, escritor e músico canadense Leonard Cohen. Esta canção teve origem no poema "Suzanne Takes You Down", que faz parte do livro de poemas Parasites of Heaven publicado em 1966, assim como outras canções do seu álbum de estreia Songs of Leonard Cohen de 1967. A primeira gravação desta canção foi realizada por Judy Collins e foi incluída no seu álbum de 1966 In My Life. Em uma entrevista concedida à BBC em 1994, Cohen explicou que tanto o poema quanto a canção narram um encontro com Suzanne Verdal, esposa do escultor Armand Vaillancourt, em Montreal. A canção menciona vários lugares da cidade, como o Rio São Lourenço e uma pequena capela junto à baía, Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours, descrita como voltada para o nascer do sol. Cohen foi convidado por Suzanne para a sua casa perto do rio, onde ela lhe ofereceu chá Constant Comment, que contém pedaços de laranja. Esses elementos inspiraram Cohen a criar o poema e a canção.
