The story behind

Wind Up, according to DoReSol

The song Wind Up, with its duration of 2 minutes and 32 seconds, adds to the distinctive sound of Foo Fighters' second album, The Colour and the Shape. This record, released in May 1997, marked an important milestone for the band. Unlike their previous work, where Dave Grohl was responsible for writing and recording everything on his own, The Colour and the Shape was the first album on which the full band actively participated in the recording process.

This album, which saw the light under the Roswell and Capitol Records labels, is considered a key piece within the post-grunge genre. The energy captured in its recording was palpable; Gil Norton was in charge as producer, while engineers like Ryan Boesch, Todd Burke, Bradley Cook, Don Farwell, Ryan Hadlock, Jason Mauza, and Geoff Turner were responsible for capturing the sound. The mixing work was handled by Chris Sheldon. Following the international success of the first album, Grohl had incorporated Pat Smear on guitar, Nate Mendel on bass, and William Goldsmith on drums, laying the groundwork for this new phase of collective work. The album ranked among the best-selling rock albums of 1997 and 1998, even being nominated for Best Rock Album at the 40th Annual Grammy Awards.
