The story behind
We Never Change, according to DoReSol
The ninth track on the album Parachutes, titled We Never Change, invites us to reflect on the inherent difficulty of modifying our behaviors and the circumstances that surround us. This composition, lasting 4 minutes and 9 seconds, delves into a universe of metaphors that can be interpreted both in the realm of personal relationships and in a broader view of the world. The lyrics explore how these limitations, the inability to change, end up affecting the way we connect with others.
The recording of Parachutes, Coldplay's debut album, took place in 1996 in London, although its official release was on July 10, 2000, in the United Kingdom through Parlophone and on November 7, 2000, in the United States with Nettwerk. Most of the songs, including We Never Change, were co-produced by Ken Nelson and the band itself. However, the track *High Speed* was exclusively produced by Chris Allison. The sound engineering process involved Simon “Barny” Barnicott, Jon Coles, Ken Nelson, Paul Read, and Andrea Wright, while the final mixing was handled by Michael Brauer. The album, which included singles such as *Shiver*, *Yellow*, *Trouble*, and *Don't Panic*, reached number one in the UK and has been certified 9 times platinum.
