The story behind
The song Walk Don’t Walk is a piece that, although brief at 3:08 in length, is part of the sonic universe of Prince and his band, The New Power Generation. This track is integrated into the album Diamonds and Pearls, released on October 1, 1991. The production and arrangements of this work were handled by Prince and The New Power Generation, while the mixing was done by Tom Garneau and Michael Koppelman.
The album Diamonds and Pearls, released through Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records, was notable for including widely resonating singles such as Gett Off, Cream, Money Don't Matter 2 Night, and Insatiable, in addition to the title track. In the album's visual aesthetic, dancers Lori Werner and Robia LaMorte, known as "Diamond" and "Pearl", played an important role. They appeared on the original holographic cover and were also part of the music videos for tracks like Cream, Strollin', Gett Off, and the song Diamonds and Pearls. Their presence also extended to the Diamonds and Pearls Tour.
