The story behind
The first time you listen to Volver, the tango that Carlos Gardel recorded in 1934, you get hooked by that air of nostalgia that doesn’t sound like a complaint, but like an embrace that lingers. It’s not just Gardel’s voice — hoarse, warm, as if every word had been lived before — but that melody that winds around the bandoneon and doesn’t let go until the end. The lyrics, written by Alfredo Le Pera, don’t tell a linear story: they speak of returning to a place, to a person, to a time that no longer exists, yet remains alive in memory.
