The story behind
Verde, according to DoReSol
In the album Re, Café Tacvba embarked on a groundbreaking sonic exploration. One of the pieces that emerged from this experimentation is Verde, a song that, with its short duration of 1:55, encapsulates a bold proposal. The band, in this work, dared to fuse such disparate genres as Mexican regional music —encompassing trío and huapango to bolero, son jarocho, norteño music, and banda— with influences from punk, funk, and grunge. This amalgamation of styles took shape during the recording of Re, a process that took place in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
The production of this influential album, released in 1994 under the Warner Music Group label, was handled by the members of Café Tacvba themselves alongside Gustavo Santaolalla. To further enrich the sound, they collaborated with musicians such as Luis Conte and Alejandro Flores. Interestingly, in the credits of Re, the vocalist Rubén Albarrán appears under the name "Cosme," adding a distinctive touch to the group's identity during this phase.
