The story behind
Valió la pena, according to DoReSol
When Marc Anthony released Valió la pena in mid-2004, he already had a history in various genres, from hip hop to salsa, where he had achieved significant success. However, this song, taken from his album Amar sin mentiras, marked a return to his Spanish pop roots. The composition of this piece is a collaborative effort between Estéfano, José Luis Pagán, and Marc Anthony himself, with production by Estéfano.
The song Valió la pena performed well on the Billboard charts in the United States, although its impact was more fleeting compared to another single from the same album, ¿Ahora Quién?. The music video, directed by Paula Walker, shows Anthony in an intimate setting, reflecting on a past relationship and the impact a woman had on his life. This album, Amar sin mentiras, released in June 2004, was a milestone as his first Spanish pop album and featured the vocal participation of Jennifer López. The work on Amar sin mentiras was recognized with a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album in February 2005.
