Fun facts

Soda Stereo released «Un millón de años luz» in 1990, as the second track of their album Canción animal. The song was re-recorded for the compilation Me verás volver, which came out in 2007, and it ranked number 13. The lyrics were written by Gustavo Cerati, the band's vocalist and composer.

The story behind

Soda Stereo wrote Un millón de años luz in 1990, as part of the album Canción animal. The song starts with soft keyboards, guitar and light vocals, and then the main riff kicks in. The bass and rhythm remind one of Tempted by Squeeze. At the end, after the line "yo estaré a un millón de años luz de casa", Gustavo Cerati plays a guitar solo that in live performances is greatly extended. In the album version El último concierto, that solo was cut, but in the tour Me verás volver it was left intact. The song was played in live concerts, such as the 11 symphonic episodes and in the tour Siempre es hoy.
