The story behind

When Gustavo Cerati, Héctor "Zeta" Bosio, and Charly Alberti got together to create Trátame suavemente, they weren't thinking about creating a generational anthem. What they were clear about was the search for a distinctive sound, something that would set them apart. In their early days, the influence of bands like Virus or The Police was felt, but over time, Soda Stereo mutated, exploring heavier textures and alternative rock tints, even touching on shoegaze and neo-psychedelia. This song, with its 3 minutes and 23 seconds, is a good example of that evolution, a point where you can feel the energy that led them to become a reference throughout Ibero-America.

The band, originally from Argentina, consolidated itself as a fundamental trio during the 80s and 90s. Their musical proposal, which ranged from new wave to more experimental sounds, resonated strongly in the Spanish rock scene. It wasn't just about catchy melodies, but about a sonic construction that invited attentive listening, a trait that can be clearly appreciated in Trátame suavemente.
