The story behind

Tokitô sounds like a sigh lingering in the air. The voice of Marina Sena intertwines with a rhythm that defies common time, as if time itself had become malleable for this song. There’s something in the way the melody stretches and contracts, almost like a held breath, that makes it sound unlike anything usually heard on the radio. It’s not just a song: it’s a moment where the music seems to breathe in sync with whoever listens to it.

The track arrived without warning. In November 2024, Marina Sena dropped it like a secret: the first preview of what would become her third album, *Coisas Naturais*. There were no long campaigns or calculated leaks, just that song slipping into the headphones of those who discovered it by chance. And it didn’t stop there. The full album, released in March 2025 under the Sony Music Brasil label, is made up of thirteen tracks where she wrote every word and every note herself. Three of those songs — Numa Ilha, Ouro de Tolo, and Lua Cheia — ended up becoming the ones people sought out to feel something akin to what she felt while creating them. But Tokitô didn’t stay in obscurity. When the album reached the ears of the jurors, the song stood out. Not just for its sound, but because the album it belongs to, *Coisas Naturais*, ended up being nominated for the Latin Grammy in the Best Portuguese-Language Pop Album category. And Tokitô, in particular, also earned its own recognition: a nomination for Best Portuguese-Language Song. It was the second time Marina Sena saw her name on that shortlist, giving her art a newfound weight. It wasn’t just another song: it was part of something beginning to resonate beyond the borders where it was born.
