Tierra

The song Tierra by La Ley, with its 4:17 duration, is presented as a key piece within the album Uno, released in February 2000. This work marked a turning point for the Chilean band, being the first without the participation of Rodrigo Aboitiz and Luciano Rojas. The recording was done with the group reduced to a trio, with the contribution of Archie Frugone for the bass lines. Later, J.C. Cumplido joined as a touring bassist until 2001, also being replaced by Archie Frugone.

Musically, Uno distances itself from the darker, electro-industrial tinged explorations of Vértigo, as well as the grunge and gothic influenced sound of Invisible. Instead, the band opted for a more direct sound within Alternative Rock, abandoning the more experimental ambient textures. This change of direction, which also involved an abandonment of the dark image and a more rocking sonority, consolidated La Ley as one of the relevant bands in Latin America, adding two Grammy Awards and two Latin Grammy Awards to their career. The album Uno, in particular, received a Latin Grammy, as did their next work, Libertad (2003).
